Beijing Flat Four (北京平四) is the only modern dance originated from China.
Like Beijing Opera, it is also the result of a melting pot: its backbone comes from Swing, its basic steps is one forward rock step followed by one back rock step. Most of figures are four beats as its name implies; it also has six or eight beats figures. It combines all the modern dances and Latin dances together plus some Chinese folk dances figures: this make it one of the most beautiful and lovely dances.
This dance is very easy to learn and very suitable to Chinese style, one of its amazing features is you may convert most of your favorite steps into part of Beijing Ping Si (北京平四)!!!
Although it has its own typical music, except for some very fast and very slow tempo four-step music, all other music can be danced with Beijing Flat Four, which includes Disco, Samba, Jive, Middle Four, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha and many more.
It is very beginner friendly, as long as you have learned it and your partner does not mind, more than half of the dance party music can be danced with Beijing Flat Four!
